Mind Over Matt(er)

gave up already

I have once again started a creative project only to give up. Thankfully, it isn't this blog. No, instead I refunded my subscription for Obsidian Publish and took down my digital garden.

I was disappointed with the content I was sharing.

I want to share my notes, ideas, insights and thoughts that come from the content I'm consuming as well as my own original thoughts and ideas, but it wasn't sitting right with me and I want to have something I can be proud of rather than something that was constantly bugging me.

So, I've gone back to the drawing board with it.

I know the point of a digital garden is to let people find their own way and explore, but I want to have a place that is worth exploring and I wasn't heading in the right direction for that.

I have a lot to catch up on and learn when it comes to things like Digital Gardens and the IndieWeb. I've even stumbled on the Fediverse now and that's blown my mind.

I feel like a technophile-in-training given how long some of these things have been around and I've no idea about them.

I can say that I will be trying again in the future with the garden, I loved the look of the site when it was up but whether I try again with Obsidian Publish or try and create my own version remains to be seen.

While I am disappointed that I've given up on a creative project, this one (for once) felt more like I had a genuine reason to do so, I have a purpose and a plan to bring it back better and that's still got my excited.

Sometimes we have to take a few steps back to find a new path.
