Mind Over Matt(er)

nothing of note to say

I enjoy writing and finding a home here on Bear has meant that I could do that without feeling the normal pressures of 'niches', comments and messages saying 'great article'.

And while this is a personal blog, I do still feel responsible to make sure I'm not posting for the sake of posting and taking advantage of the fact that people are willing to use moment of their precious attention to entertain the words that I've typed.

I've never tried to focus on metrics, but it's an unfortunate necessity of creating... You need people to view it.

But if people lose faith in what you're posting, or if you're not producing work that appreciates the fact that people are viewing it, is it even worth posting?

I don't want to be a gatekeeper and say what you're supposed to publish and I find that the personal blogs are the one's that appeal more to be because you can see the human behind the screen.

This started as nothing of note, but I realise now how important appreciating the audience is, whether it's an audience of one or 100,000.

If you do read this, I want you to know I do appreciate it and while I may not always post the most incredible articles, I do hope that I can stick to producing things that I don't feel I'm insulting you when I'm taking your attention to read.
