Mind Over Matt(er)

the quiet radicalism of showcasing your weird

"Wait, you're weird too? I thought I was the only one!"

When we find someone who we connect with, it's because they're our kind of weird. Whether it's in something they like, what they do or even how they talk. They're our kind of weird.

For me, this is why I've become so grateful for stumbling on BearBlog. Without this, I wouldn't have given myself the permission to showcase that weird side of me, the one that talks about what I think happens after we die. I also wouldn't have stumbled on the Indie Web.

The indie web is going to have a growing importance in the digital world as more of us begin to realise that we don't need the social tricks, tips and hints about how to build an audience and instead simply need to show who we are and our tribe will find us.

It's less about 'hey, look at me!' and more about 'here's a place we both belong'.

And in truth, that's a radical act. But an act that we should all want to strive for.
