Mind Over Matt(er)

this love business

Preface: It's like 3:30am, I can't sleep and I will be creating a longer version of this post at a later date so this is going to be more of a draft version... Enjoy.

I admit to having high standards when it comes to dating and relationships, perhaps it's because I've seen a lot of friends and family settle for something that wasn't 'amazing'.

And yes, I'm aware it's easy to (wrongly) judge from the outside of another's relationship, and perhaps my view of love and relationships is overly romanticised. But, I do believe what I'm looking for is out there.

I've been in love previously and it hasn't worked out, and I'm under no illusions that I have played a role in that, if not the staring role.

I've been called both fickle and picky when it comes to dating, I'd prefer to think of it as having the respect for the other person not to waste their time if I don't see it going anywhere longer term.

This isn't meant to be a post about what makes an incredible relationship or anything as it's going to be different for everyone, but I know what I'm looking for when it comes to love, and perhaps it is 'fickle' or 'picky', but if and when it does happen (again), I'm more than happy to work to make sure it is (and stays) amazing.

The point of the post then?

It's to remind everyone that being alone is okay, being with someone and toughing it out to build a real life together is okay and knowing when to walk away is okay.

When it comes to love, we deserve amazing and I believe it's out there (in one form or another) for everyone.
