Mind Over Matt(er)

wake me up when September ends

Not only is it September, but it's the middle of September, when did that happen?

Yes, to those of you who may read this and roll your eyes, I am one of those people that likes to say things such as "My God, this year is flying by" and "I can't believe how quickly time is passing".

It's funny really, you never think about time until it starts to become a real factor in your life.

Whether you're spending, saving, wasting or killing it - time seems to creep up on us as we age until we're completely out of it.

Not exactly the cheery start I was hoping for, especially given this is my first post of this month, I keep telling myself that I'll write more and that I'll make sure to publish and that the work will be excellent quality.

And then I find that weeks have gone by and I've (seemingly) done very little. I genuinely can't tell you much about what I've done throughout September and yet we're 16 days in.

The older I get the more I can relate to all those quotes about how life passes you by if you're not paying attention. Yet, the more I think, the less time I have.

I need something like Bernard's watch1 that lets me stop everything once in a while.

Why is nobody working on that?

  1. Given some may not know, this was a TV show from the 90s in which a young boy (Bernard) had a watch that allowed him to stop time, it was peak television for when I got home from school.
